Caring for your Cook portable building
How often should I paint my building?
Touch up the paint every 3 to 4 years to keep it looking its best. Fill nail holes and dents with wood putty before you prime.
How do I keep the siding from rotting?
Keep sprinklers and irrigation from spraying the building. Steady water on the siding can lead to rot. Trim grass and weeds around the whole building, and don't stack firewood, mulch, or bags of soil against the siding.
The door lock is getting stiff. What should I do?
Spray the locking door handles with WD-40 or a similar lubricant. It keeps the lock from freezing up in cold weather.
My doors don't hang right anymore. What happened?
The ground under a building can settle over time. If the doors stop hanging right or the floor slants, the building needs to be re-leveled. Set a floor jack under the wall plate on the low side, raise it until it is level, set blocks or shims under the skid, lower it, and check it again with a level.
Can I move the building or cut the floor?
Please don't move the building yourself or cut the floor. Moving it off a level pad or cutting the floor can void coverage. If you need a building moved, call the lot at 601-442-3660 for a quote. Moves are priced separately.
Who handles anchoring and permits?
Any anchoring or permits your city, county, or state requires are the customer's responsibility. Set them up before delivery.
